'Step Back in Time' Tour -

Day Tour (Thursdays only)
08:00am Depart your accommodation in Hervey
Bay for Maryborough.
08:40am We arrive in 'Maryborough' - Queensland's most famous heritage
city and stop to visit 'The Paint Doctor', Hans Kreuzen's Art Studio and
Automotive Gallery. The Artist of our uniquely designed and airbrushed bus.
08:50am We then visit Lilly Pilly Cottage, home of 'Dolls, Bears and
Gollies, too' with a vast collection of memorabilia, consisting of dolls,
teddies, gollies, tin toys and trains to bring back fond memories. Share the
atmosphere and then relax and take in the pleasant surroundings of Lilly Pilly
cottage and its gardens with a lovely morning tea.
10:00am Back on board the bus we make our way to City Hall to start our
scenic tour which takes in more than 100 historical homes, historical sites and
many other points of interest.
11:15am We then visit Brennan and Geraghty's, one of three preserved
retail stores in the world and discover what shopping was like over 130 years
ago.
12:00pm Enjoy a delicious lunch in the heart of the historic Wharf Street
Precinct.
1:00pm After lunch spend time exploring Maryborough's historic Wharf
Street Precinct including Custom's House which operated until 1988 and opened as
an Interpretive Centre in 2001, bond Store Museum which concentrates on the
history of the Port of Maryborough and how the City developed around the Port,
and J. E. Brown Warehouse, home of the Military and Colonial Museum - regarded as
one of the best country museums in Australia, it has a strong focus on local
military and colonial history.
2:00pm Join Captain Denis for your cruise on 'The Mary' on the scenic
Mary River, relax as we sail past historic homes and the Heritage Port of
Maryborough.
3:00pm Reboard the bus for a tour of 'The Pocket', home of Maryborough
Sugar Factory and Hyne and Son Sawmill (time permitting), before making our way
to 'Mary Delicious', an ice-cream parlour and milk bar specialising in home-made
fudge and confectionery in the historic Wharf Street Precinct are. Here we enjoy
afternoon tea with delicious Devonshire tea or coffee and try the famous
home-made fudge.
4:30pm We return to your Hervey Bay accommodation.
